There are two types of NDIS funding for Accommodation:
Supported independent living (SIL)
LYFIT provides quality care and accommodation support. We offer specialised accommodation options and skilled staff to ensure safety. Our goal is to create and promote opportunities where participants can grow confidently and live independently.
SIL represents one of the NDIS funding categories, and people who need 24/7 support while living in a shared home primarily use it to cover the cost of the support staff in the house and ensure people with disability live as independently as possible.
As SIL provider- LYFIT will use the SIL funding (depending on the level of support) to provide quality support workers to help with and/or supervision of daily tasks to develop the skills of participants to live as independently as possible and can be used at a place of their choice which can be shared or individual arrangement including:
- Your own house where you live
- Privately rented property
- Your own property
- Shared or group homes
- Special Disability Accommodation
- Other Public Housing such as Department of housing and other similar services
There are 3 different levels of SIL funding. Based on your specific level of support required, LYFIT Can help you find a home and you can choose who you live with and where LYFIT’s SIL support includes assistance with all tasks of daily living. Examples but not limited to:
- Housekeeping, shopping, cooking, household budgeting, cleaning.
- Assistance with attending banks, shops, using public transport, participation in recreational activities and attending medical appointments.
- Participation in health & wellbeing activities in a fun & safe environment.
- Conflict resolution and mediation with support providers.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) provides accommodation in purpose-built houses, units, townhouses, and group homes for NDIS participants who have extreme functional impairments or very high support needs. It offers specialist housing solutions with specific designs, locations, or features that make it possible to provide complex or high-cost supports for independent living.
Builders design Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA) properties to meet the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. They equip these properties with features such as wheelchair accessibility, modified bathrooms and kitchens, and assistive technology.
As an SDA provider, LYFIT maintains participant accommodation, similar to the role of a landlord or property manager.
The organisation also works closely with the NDIA, Plan Managers, and Support Coordinators to ensure each property meets participant needs and remains NDIS-compliant.
